Video games have come a very long way from their original creation back in 1971 with the creation of Computer Space. Created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabne, who later founded Atari, Computer Space is documented on being the very first video game ever created. Bushnell and Dabne then went on to create one of if not the most iconic game ever, Pong in 1972. That is the same year that families we’re able to bring the video games home into their living room with the creation of the Magnavox Odyssey and from there, history would forever be changed. 47 years later and now were playing video games on some of the most powerful computing equipment to date, playing games in stunning 4k resolution with the game characters looking more and more realistic with every new game release. There are some games out there that when you play at the optimal quality it was intended to be played at, you can’t tell whether the characters are real or digitally created.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider “right”
All that being said, we are seeing the demand for video games on a constant rise with people able to make careers out of just playing video games making more money then they would working a regular 9-5. With so many video games existing now, there’s bound to be a game to meet everyone’s wants and needs. So with that being said, I’m going to list off the 5 hottest video games available right now. Number 1 is easily Fortnite, this is the game that pretty much made it possible to become rich just playing and streaming yourself playing video games. At the moment it is easily the most popular game available right now, and whats crazy is that its FREE. Now if you want cool add ons like skins for your character or different cosmetic stuff, you do have to pay for it but they give you no advantage in game whatsoever. So best case scenario if you aren’t the best at the game, at least you’ll look the part.

Number 2 is Grand Theft Auto 5, part of arguably the biggest video game franchise in history, GTA V is easily the best GTA ever with a compelling story line and a constantly expanding online mode, Rockstar games proves why they are one of the top studios to ever produce a video game. Number 3 is Minecraft. What Minecraft is, if you haven’t heard of it is a sandbox independent video game created by Swedish programmer Markus “Notch” Persson and later developed and published by the Swedish company Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft allow players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, gathering resources, crafting, and combat. Number 4 is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege. Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft and is a sequel in a long line of Rainbow Six video games with the first one being released back in August 1998. Siege is a masterpiece when it comes to strategic video games, you cant just load it up and run and gun unless you want to die within the first 5 seconds. To play this game you actually have to be patient, play strategic and communicate with your teammates if you want to win. Number 5 is Overwatch, this is a game that I personally haven’t played but I know a lot of people love it and there are some serious tournament going on all over the world for this game with some serious cash to be awarded to the winning team. Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer online first-person shooter video game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. Overwatch assigns players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a roster of over 20 characters, known in-game as “heroes”, each with a unique style of play, whose roles are divided into four general categories: Offense, Defense, Tank, and Support. Players on a team work together to secure and defend control points on a map or escort a payload across the map in a limited amount of time.
Those are just a few of the thousands and thousands of video games available across a multitude of platforms. I don’t see video games going anywhere anytime soon, Its just going to keep growing and growing and growing. And me personally, I cant wait to see what the future hold for gaming. I guess only time will tell.
